Do you want to hear the good news or the great news first.....
Do you want the great news or the good news first?
We will start with the GREAT news. Jean Paulite is home and recovering well! He spent five days in the hospital due to complications from an infection. At first they did not want to treat him because his blood sugars were off because of his Diabetes. He soon became very weak and needed to go back. The doctors got his blood sugar under control and were able to take care of the infection. He has now been home for over a week and doing much better.
Now for the GOOD news....Last month we submitted an application to IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services) for a grant to help with some COVID relief. We found that this was a pretty extensive process but the questions they asked and the information we had to submit were a really good exercise in how to be a trustworthy and accountable ministry. We received the check today! This money, along with funds that have been sent by our supporters, will be sent directly to Jean and 100% of that will be going to help families that need to pay their rent and put food on the table. Merci Bondye!
Another bit of GOOD news is that one of the smaller new churches in Jaibon has begun a project to build their own church. This little barrio is on the road heading West out of Santiago on the way to two other churches that are supported through Haitian Ministries, Hatilla Palma and Juan Gomez. They have a very faithful and active congregation that have saved some of their own money to purchase supplies to begin the project.
This is by far the longest stretch of time that we have gone without a visit to Jean and his family in the Dominican Republic. We so miss spending time in their home and visiting all of our friends. God has provided us personally with a mission and a purpose through this ministry and we know that HE is watching over the ministry.
Bondye bon touton e touton Bondye bon! God is good all the time and all the time God is Good!
